Cleanmark

Remove Getty Images Watermark

If your Getty license includes a clean original, download that original instead of repairing a comp. For an edit you are permitted to make, the saved file needs inspection: our manual-brush test removed readable lettering but left obvious bands across the cup, so we rejected it.

A comp is a test or sample file, not a publication license. Removing the visible mark does not change that. Getty downloading guidance · reviewed 26 October 2026.

A cleared wordmark is not an accepted image

We downloaded the official comp for Getty creative image 1358132613 (coffee-cup photograph), credited to alvarez. The input was one 509 × 339 JPEG, 27,272 bytes. Every uploaded test used that unchanged file, including the large translucent overlay and small corner identifier. We did not replace an unsuccessful output with another input.

These were internal file tests. The comp and edited copies are not reproduced or offered for download here. Public results below are our observations and file measurements; the downloadable worksheet contains no Getty photograph. This separates a reproducible source record from permission to publish the source image.

Every row above concerns this session and file. A barrier is not a quality score. The tools used their available manual or automatic methods; masks were drawn separately, not pixel-identical. This is not a controlled model ranking or a claim about every Getty overlay.

MagicRemover: a .png name, JPEG bytes

The downloaded file was named getty-watermark-removed.png, but its header began FF D8 FF and the image decoder identified JPEG. The saved file measured 1248 × 832 pixels and 144,700 bytes. Changing a filename extension does not turn that data into PNG. If your next step requires PNG, check the actual encoding before handing over the file; the name alone is not the export check.

The visible wordmark and corner identifier were no longer readable in that export. A handle appeared where the overlay had obscured part of the cup. We cannot verify it against an unwatermarked original, so we do not call the new handle recovered detail. The increased pixel dimensions do not establish recovered detail either.

Cleanmark: keep the failure

We manually covered the visible overlay and the small corner identifier, ran the live browser brush, and downloaded the result. It decoded as PNG at 509 × 339 pixels and measured 217,117 bytes. Lettering was no longer readable, but the cup had broad horizontal bands and sharp transitions across the selected area. That is an unacceptable appearance even though download succeeded. This is why this page does not promise that Cleanmark can clean this Getty comp.

The recorded 0.413-second interval ran from starting the action to observing its ready state through browser automation. It excludes upload, selection and download, but includes control/observation overhead. The MagicRemover and Pixelbin numbers are upper bounds at later observations, not exact processing times. Phototune’s processing interval was not isolated; Unwatermark’s 12 seconds was displayed by its UI. These different timing methods must not be used to rank speed.

The other saved files changed different things

Pixelbin's downloaded JPEG kept 509 × 339 pixels and measured 106,850 bytes. Readable text disappeared, while translucent geometric shapes remained on the right. That is an incomplete cleanup of this overlay. Phototune returned a 509 × 339 PNG, 198,749 bytes; its upper handle area had a conspicuous protrusion. Unwatermark's saved JPEG was 1224 × 815 pixels, 94,894 bytes, with a reconstructed handle and nearby surface. Neither attractive texture nor a larger output proves the pixels hidden by the comp mark.

We retained the originals, masks, saved exports and unsuccessful attempts locally. The first BulkPicTools selection moved above the watermark after a viewport change; that output is excluded rather than blamed on the repair model. Its correctly placed selection is a separate run. We do not insert advertised resolutions where a saved file is missing.

Search results that were not comparable local-file editors

The CapCut result inspected in the preceding audit was a template/explore listing. The Gettyimages Downloader result accepted an asset link rather than this local JPEG. Neither supplied a comparable repair output, so neither is counted as a same-file success or given invented resolution and time values. No source-file download from the link downloader was used as a repair result.

Which permission route fits your file?

Official pages below were reviewed on 26 October 2026. The asset record and applicable agreement determine your use; this worksheet does not grant a license.

Preview or comp: testing, not final publication

Getty permits comp use for tests or samples for up to 30 days after download. Without a purchased license, the comp cannot be used in final or publicly available materials. Record its download date and test purpose. Official downloading FAQ and Content License Agreement · reviewed 26 October 2026.

Purchased license: match the use, licensee and asset

Buying usage rights is not buying ownership. Check the asset and named licensee against the intended project. The agreement includes restrictions on editing, editorial content, credits/metadata and AI purposes; a receipt alone does not resolve them. Obtain the licensed original through Getty when available. Official licensing FAQ and Content License Agreement · reviewed 26 October 2026.

Your own photograph: establish your remaining rights

Start with your own original and verify the rights needed for the project, including any contributor or exclusivity agreement you signed. Getty says contributors retain copyright, while distinguishing exclusive and non-exclusive arrangements. This route is not permission to use another photographer's image. Official contributor guidance · reviewed 26 October 2026.

Check third-party processing and public illustration separately. An internal comp test is not permission to publish a before-and-after photograph, and Getty's agreement restricts AI purposes. If the relevant permission remains unresolved, record it as unresolved. Official agreement · reviewed 26 October 2026.

Keep a permission record and an export record

Download the tickable checklist or get the Markdown copy. The ZIP contains an HTML form and a Markdown copy. You can also open the worksheet online. It has separate sections for the permission route, saved-output inspection and uses the worksheet does not clear. Open the HTML file locally, tick the checks, then print or save your completed copy. Ticks are not automatically stored.

  1. Identify the source asset and the permission route. Keep private invoices and client details in your own records.
  2. If a permitted working-file edit is appropriate, open the manual image brush. Paint the visible mark rather than selecting automatic corner repair for an interior overlay.
  3. Download a copy and reopen that file. Record its real encoding and dimensions, then inspect the former mark and adjacent subject edge.
  4. Choose an outcome: use the official source file; accept a permitted, inspected edit; or stop because permission or output evidence is unresolved.

A supported Gemini corner export uses a different mechanism: see the Gemini image tool. Manual still-image steps are on the free image repair page. Saved-video region repair belongs on the video repair page. None of those workflows supplies permission for a Getty asset.
